There were plenty of independent films this year to choose from as your favorite. Films like KINGS OF THE EVENING, brought to the 7th Oakland International Film Festival a renewed spirit of image. Homer Hobbs, played by Tyson Beckford, leaves prision after two years during the depression and joins
four other strangers in a house, who each rely on each other for survival.
Gracie played by Emmy and Golden Globe Nominee, Lynn Whitfield is the boarding house owner, and friend/family to each one.
Clarence, played by 2008 Emmy Award winner, Glyn Turman considers suicide, but is saved by the love he receives from the others. Lucy played by Linara Washington, plays a seamstress, dreams of having her own boutique, but has a past fastly approaching her.
Benny, played by Reginald T. Dorsey plays the ego of each, AND ADDS MORE adventure to their empty pockets. AND LOW SPIRITS.
Reginald T. Dorsey attended this years 7th Oakland International Film Festival.
