What does this have to do with the Oakland International Film Festival?
We are reaching out to schools around the world to share with us their  innovative strategies that are making a difference in the lives of their students and their community.
We will feature these strategies on the OIFF.ORG website starting in June 2011.

Promoting the local businesses/venues in Oakland
After visiting the American Film Market (the largest film market in the United States that brings together Film buyers, Film Distributors, Producers etc) in Santa Monica at the Loews Hotel for several years, we thought, why not Oakland? Oakland has the Claremont Hotel Club and Spa (actually the Claremont Hotel Club and Spa sits on the boarder of Berkeley and Oakland) and just an hour flight from Los Angeles.

Oakland also has the Historical Grand Lake Theater, which has been our main location for the past 8 years.

We appreciate the support of owner Alan Michaan, for enabling us to host our festival each year. Mr. Michaan, also owns the Art Deco Auditorium (our prime location this year in Alameda).
