The short film, Mo' Better Food highlights the connection between African American farmers and the West Oakland community. These farmers drive to West Oakland every Saturday in West Oakland to sell their produce.
Mo' Better Food -the film is just one example of the kinds of films being made to bring awareness to issues often over looked in main stream media.
This year, several documentaries including, Buried in Earthskin (South Africa), Leg before Wicket (India Relations) Children of Kinishia ( Congo), The Tribe (Jewish awareness), Operation Small Axe (Oakland Freedom fighters), are made to educate the public about various issues happening right now.
The Oakland Film Society will continue to highlight these productions, and others to promote and preserve the freedom of filmmaking.
