The Port of Oakland, is the fourth largest port in the United States, stretching 19 miles along our waterway and gateway to the Pacific.



Oakland is the most ethnically diverse city in the United States.

At least 100 different languages and dialects are spoken in Oakland


In 1820, Don Luis Maria Peralta received a huge land grant from the Spanish crown in recognition of his long and loyal service as a soldier.

The city of Oakland has a populaton of 404,155 people. They reside in 64 disticts, over a total land mass of 3 square miles. Since 2005 Oakland's population has grown by about 3%.

With Oakland, and other cities like, Richmond, Walnut Creek, Emeryvile, Pleasanton, Hayward, to name a few, together, we call this area "the East Bay of the Bay Area." The Center of the East Bay is the city of Oakland.

Oakland has a 525-acre zoo that is home to more than 440 native and exotic animals

Lake Merritt, considered by many to be the "jewel of Oakland," is the largest lake located in an urban area.
