Welcome to 2009.

Already this year is beginning with nothing but drama! Many people say the change is here. Many say its going to be a while before we see anything change, except the effects of global warming. One things for sure, we are not waiting to find out and wouldn't suggest you wait either for this change, but instead be the change.

For the past seven years, The Oakland Film Society has showcased local, national and international films from all over the world.

We will continue hosting the Oakland International Film Festival, but this year will be like no other. If you are reading this press release from our website, then you are virtually on the stage where changes will be made.Within these pages, we will keep you updated on various networking events and other events you may not want to miss.

Not only film related events in Oakland, but our mission is to promote filmmakers and other film organizations in the Bay Area, and beyond.

In 2008, Founder, of the Oakland Film Society, David Roach, joined the Filmmakers Advisory Board of the San Francisco Film Society, and is very excited to learn and expand the opportunities for filmmakers in Oakland, by being apart of The San Francisco Film Society, which is the oldest film festival in the United States.
